Hey Black Chicken Remedies lovers, My name’s Keira Rumble and I’m thrilled to be guest blogging here. I’m sure you’re wondering who I am and what brought me to be writing on this page. So first a bit about me…
I’d describe myself as an enthusiast and spokesperson for natural health and wellbeing. As well as my writing and blogging on the topic, I’m a qualified nutrition coach and I have my own range of nutrition supplement snacks.
...one of the biggest lessons has been how important is it to know exactly what you are consuming and putting on your body as this can make a big difference.
How did I get here? Well, my personal journey has led me to actively seek out a more natural approach to day-to-day health. I haven’t exactly had it easy in terms of my health, having had a series of misdiagnoses and pre-diabetic in my early 20’s. I’m a newly found epileptic, and to top it all off I’m on the tail end of years of adrenal fatigue and heavy metals in my body!
After years of medications, with medication to support the side effects from the other medications, my body practically said enough was enough. I turned to alternative medicine (with the guidance of my doctors) and slowly weaned off quite a few of my medications, and changed the way I viewed my “illnesses”. I’m still working on my health, but one of the biggest lessons has been how important is it to know exactly what you are consuming and putting on your body as this can make a big difference. Our environment is unbelievably toxic and I am such a believer that this was a huge root cause for my body shutting down.
My mantra now is all about being as toxic-free as possible. I’m not saying that I walk around with a mask and gloves, but where possible and reasonable, I opt for toxin-free living.
Which brings me to Black Chicken Remedies. Recently I came across this brand and after reading about the founder Chey’s own personal health journey, I knew our health values were mutual.
Over the past month I have tried a range of Black Chicken Remedies products and I’m excited to share my experience here. It was really good timing when I decided to try them for the first time because I was about to head on a trip to Byron to spend a few relaxing days in a retreat for some much needed R&R.
My business had been keeping me really busy of late, and although I hadn’t been neglecting my health, I definitely was in need of a wellbeing boost.
The first product I tried was the Dry shampoo.
I’m very fortunate to have been blessed with a thick head of hair, but believe me some days I dream of chopping it off! It’s high maintenance (the hair, not me haha) and I hadn’t come across anything natural and toxic-free that would extend the time between washes.
Being very aware that most standard dry shampoo has toxic ingredients like: Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), Parabens, Alcohol Denat, and Talc, and knowing that your scalp absorbs things 5-10 times faster than other parts of your body, I was intrigued by the Black Chicken Remedies Dry Shampoo which has only natural ingredients.
The next product on my hit list was the Cacao Revelation Mask.
I love a really good face mask, and this one had me at “cacao”. Cacao really is more than a super food. As a natural antioxidant it has anti-aging properties and is particularly good at healing skin at the cellular level. This is due to the high amounts of antioxidants in cacao which protect cells from oxidation. Health benefits aside, there’s just something so blissfully indulgent about having raw chocolate on your face, especially in combination with a relaxing bath which is exactly what I did after applying the mask.
After my face mask and bath, I tried out the range of skincare. I’m an avid traveler, and packing skincare is always difficult and more often than not results in a suitcase explosion of some sort.
Balm of Ages™
Being super sensitive to skincare and with constant skin allergies I have to be really careful. I can’t use anything with chemicals or my skin will react and this sets off a chain reaction of symptoms (unfortunately one of the downsides of previous health conditions is that your body is ‘conditioned’ to react when it comes into contact with something it knows as foe).
For someone like myself with sensitive skin, this little pot of goodness has done wonders for me! I apply it on my lips and under my eyes as part of my little morning routine, leaving me not only glowing but also helping to restore a bit of life back into my face.
Serenity Nasalette™ Essential Oil Inhaler“I treated myself to some meditation in the open air, enhanced with a Serenity Nasalette™ Essential Oil Inhalerto get me in the mood”
So far my Byron retreat had been nothing short of complete wonderlust! Although not completely work-free, my skin felt rejuvenated. Since I’ve returned, I’ve had a chance to extend and recreate my Byron experience, and last week I treated myself to some meditation in the open air, enhanced with a Serenity Nasalette™ Essential Oil Inhalerto get me in the mood. I’ve never used anything like this before, but it definitely had a calming affect that set the scene for the most chilled and relaxing evening.
Using incredibly powerful essential oils like frankincense and patchouli and other gorgeous ingredients like hemp seed oil, my skin has never felt so good (and trust me, I have tried a lot of different products!)
And I love that the Nasalettes are also travel friendly. I can literally carry it with me throughout the day and when I need a pick-me-up or mind reset, I have it on hand.
So my verdict? I actually feel so grateful to have come across a brand with the same ethos and values as my own. I can tell that all products have been carefully crafted and designed to provide healing and holistic health benefits.
Over the next few months I’ll be writing more about why your health is your number one asset. It is about listening to your body, respecting it, and taking a moment to feel.
