New Year Tips from Lee Holmes

1. Make a list, then check it twice

Take stock of what’s in your kitchen and then make a list of ingredients you need to buy so you can use up what’s already in there.

2. Do not be so hard on yourself

Make a list but give yourself some wriggle room to be flexible. Life can sometimes be a little uncertain so it’s good to have flexibility in mind when shopping.

3. Shop seasonal

When it comes to fresh produce, seasonal food is bursting with flavour and has the highest nutrient value. Produce cultivated in its season are picked at its best state and tastes the yummiest.

4. On Sundays we meal prep

Meal prepping the night before or over the weekend can save a lot of time and unnecessary stress in the morning. Start small and cook more for dinner so you can takeaway the rest for lunch the next day or re-purpose last night’s food by adding some grains to make for a tasty and convenient work lunch.

5. Luscious leftovers

Transform the contents of your fridge into another meal. Throw your leftover vegetables into a stock or soup and eat it the next week. You can also freeze green vegetables and fruits and throw them into a smoothie.
