Powered by 5% lactic acid, one of the gentler Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs), it works by loosening the bonds between dead surface cells rather than physically scrubbing them away. It’s an ideal treatment for times when your skin feels rough, looks lacklustre or simply isn’t glowing the way it used to.

We’ve balanced its exfoliating action with soothing aloe vera, chamomile and antioxidant-rich green tea to help keep your skin feeling comfortable, hydrated and cared for as it renews. Skin is left feeling softer and smoother, rather than tight or stripped.

Use Refining Elixir as your treatment step two to three evenings per week, after cleansing and before applying your usual serums. By clearing away surface build-up, it helps prepare your skin for the products that follow, including our Hyaluronic Acid Serum and Love Your Face Serum.

Use 2–3 evenings per week after cleansing. Apply 4–5 drops to clean, dry skin across the face and neck, avoiding the eye area. Follow with your usual hydrating serum and moisturiser. Begin gradually and increase frequency only as your skin adjusts. Do not use on the same evening as other exfoliating treatments or our Natural Retinol Night Mask. Always apply SPF during the day.

What does Lactic Acid Serum – Refining Elixir do?

Use it 2–3 evenings per week to begin with. You can gradually increase the frequency as your skin adjusts. If you experience dryness or irritation, reduce the frequency or discontinue use.

Can I use it with other acids or exfoliants?
Avoid using it in the same routine as other acids, exfoliating treatments or physical scrubs, as combining exfoliants may increase the likelihood of irritation.

Should I wear sunscreen while using this product?
Yes. AHAs can increase your skin’s sensitivity to the sun. Apply a broad-spectrum SPF during the day and limit unnecessary sun exposure.

Can I use it during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, we recommend speaking with your healthcare professional before introducing any new active skincare product.

Will it dry out my skin?
Lactic acid offers gentle exfoliation and has moisture-attracting properties. Our formula also contains aloe vera, chamomile and green tea to help keep the skin feeling soothed, hydrated and comfortable. If dryness occurs, reduce the frequency of use.

Can I use it with retinol or the Natural Retinol Night Mask?
Avoid applying both products during the same evening routine, as this may increase the likelihood of irritation. Alternate evenings instead—for example, use Refining Elixir one evening and our Natural Retinol Night Mask on another.

How long will it take to see results?
Some people may notice softer, smoother-looking skin after the first few uses, while improvements in the appearance of tone and texture generally require consistent use. Results will vary depending on your skin and routine.
